BUSINESSEUROPE Day 2014

On January 28th 2014, BUSINESSEUROPE, the leading voice of enterprise at European level, hosted a unique and dynamic conference in Brussels.

BUSINESSEUROPE Day brought together near to 400 guests, including Presidents, Directors General and other representatives of member federations, CEOs of multinational companies as well as leading business people from all over Europe, and European politicians.

Speakers of the conference included Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, Antonis Samaras, Prime Minister of Greece, Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the European Commission, Günther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Energy, Karel De Gucht, European Commissioner for Trade.

At the opening press conference President Emma Marcegaglia, Director General Markus J. Beyrer and Michael Hüther, President of IW, presented a comprehensive report – "Industry as a growth engine in the global economy" – and BUSINESSEUROPE’s “Industry Matters: Recommen¬dations for an Industrial Compact” to the media. Later President Marcegaglia handed over BUSINESSEUROPE’s policy recommendations to Commission President Barroso.

The conference attracted about 40 journalists from a number of countries, representing both print and electronic media. The event and its content were widely covered in a variety of international and national media, outlets, etc.
